Job summary

Illumio in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a software engineer to develop containerized microservices for a multi-tenant system processing real-time data and network telemetry from multiple clouds. You will design, defend, and implement scalable services using Go, SQL, and Kubernetes, while mentoring junior engineers.

Your role includes owning features end-to-end, optimizing operations, and coordinating with Product Management to meet customer needs in a fast-paced security platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent; Master’s degree a plus.
• 2+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems.
• AWS / Azure / GCP cloud experience at API/programming level.
• K8s-based platform; experience delivering containerized services.
• Go and SQL programming; REST API client experience.
• Knowledge of CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible are nice to have.
• General TCP/IP networking knowledge; Unix/Linux programming environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi-tenant system handling real-time data from multiple clouds.
• Design your service architecture, defend it, and deliver solid implementations.
• Mentor junior engineers, new grads, and interns.
• Write Go code and work with data pipelines using SQL or other interfaces; use Kubernetes.
• Own features and subsystems end-to-end from requirements to deployment.
• Own operational aspects and learn from running the system to write better software.
• Ensure code quality via testing and continuous integration.
• Collaborate with Product Management to refine requirements and align with customer needs.
• Develop deep understanding of customer problems through stakeholder interaction.
