Job summary

Illumio is recruiting an experienced software engineer to build containerized services for a distributed multi-tenant system that processes data and real-time events across public clouds. You will design, defend, and implement robust Go-based components and contribute to security-focused features in a Kubernetes-driven platform.

You will mentor juniors and work on data pipelines with SQL, owning features end-to-end from requirements to deployment in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems.
• Experience with containerized services and distributed multi-tenant architectures.
• Proficiency in Go and SQL; REST API client experience.
• Cloud experience across AWS/Azure/GCP; familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Unix/Linux programming environment; strong TCP/IP networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi-tenant system processing data and real-time events across multiple clouds to provide real-time insights and security recommendations.
• Design service architecture, defend it among peers, and deliver robust implementations.
• Mentor junior engineers, new grads, and interns to grow as engineers.
• Write code primarily in Go and work with data pipelines using SQL or similar interfaces; leverage Kubernetes for service infrastructure.
• Own features and subsystems across the software development lifecycle, from requirements to deployment and usage by customers.
• Own operational aspects of the system and write maintainable, observable software.
• Ensure code quality through early developer testing and integration testing.
• Collaborate with Product Management to refine requirements that meet customer expectations.
• Develop deep understanding of customer problems through stakeholder interactions.
