Job summary

Illumio is hiring a senior software engineer to build containerized microservices for a distributed, multi-tenant system. You will design and implement services in Go, work with SQL-based pipelines, and operate on Kubernetes infrastructure.

You will mentor junior engineers, own features end-to-end, and contribute to deployment and on-call operations. A strong background in cloud platforms and networking is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS or related field.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• 8+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) at API/programming level.
• Kubernetes-based platform, containerized services.
• Go and SQL programming experience; REST API client familiarity.
• CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible are nice to have.
• Strong networking and Unix/Linux programming background.

Responsibilities

• Develop containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi-tenant system processing data and real-time events across clouds to provide insights and security recommendations.
• Design the service architecture, defend it, and deliver a rock-solid implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers, new grads, and interns to grow as engineers.
• Mainly write code in Go and work with data pipelines in SQL; operate on Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
• Own critical features and the full software lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Own operational aspects: learn from on-call challenges to write better software.
• Ensure code quality through early testing and integration tests; collaborate with Product Management.
