Job summary

Temporal Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Compute for Temporal Cloud. You will help build durable, scalable compute primitives that power serverless runtimes, container fleets, and customer-controlled deployments across multi-cloud environments.

You will design autoscaling, define server cloud boundaries, and ensure operability with strong emphasis on SLOs, observability, and secure, scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• Significant experience building distributed systems or multi-tenant platform services (design, implementation, and production operations).
• Strong systems fundamentals: concurrency, performance, reliability, and failure-mode thinking.
• A track record of shipping platform primitives used by other engineers/customers (APIs, control planes, data planes).
• Comfort owning outcomes: SLOs, incident response, and improving on-call quality over time.
• Excellent written communication and crisp tradeoff thinking. Go experience is a plus; judgment matters most.

Responsibilities

• Invent: Create new managed compute primitives with clean APIs and extension stories across compute providers.
• Own: Architect, build, and operate services on the hot path of task execution with customer-visible performance.
• Teach: Lead design reviews, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration to land coherent platform changes.
• Lead across teams (Server, SDKs, Security, Control Plane) to drive platform improvements.
