Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (EAA) to anchor architecture across eight engineering squads within the EAA-CX group. You will drive AI tooling adoption, surface opportunities, and shape the platform's developer experience while owning reliability and security for Tier-1 systems.

You will lead complex technical initiatives, work across teams, and contribute to production-ready outputs on Coinbase's AI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience leading ambiguous, high-impact technical initiatives across multi-team spaces.
• Strong experience with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Own the AI maturity and developer-experience roadmap for EAA-CX.
• Lead platform-excellence workstreams to improve reliability and observability.
• Define build-versus-buy strategy for AI tooling across EAA-CX.
• Provide Staff-level architectural coverage across squads with coherence.
• Build highly reliable, secure distributed backend services with full SLO ownership.
