Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the EAA-CX group to act as a technical anchor across eight global squads, advancing AI maturity and developer experience on Coinbase's production AI platform.

You will own platform reliability, define build-versus-buy for AI tooling, and deliver secure, scalable backend services with SLO ownership in a regulated environment, collaborating with leadership to raise Tier-1 engineering quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with distributed systems experience.
• Deep API design experience (gRPC, MCP, GraphQL).
• Cloud-native infra including AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD.
• Security-focused with audit logging and data governance.
• Go and Python proficiency for AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the EAA-CX AI maturity and developer-experience roadmap with leadership.
• Lead platform excellence to improve reliability and observability.
• Define build-versus-buy strategy for AI tooling across EAA-CX.
• Provide staff-level architectural coverage across squads.
• Build secure, reliable backend services with full SLO ownership.
