Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Staff Safety Systems Engineer to support the B-2 program. The role involves identifying hazards, enforcing safety requirements, and coordinating with IPTs to deliver safety packages and hazard analyses across multiple sites.

Required are a STEM degree with extensive safety experience, MIL-STD-882/ARP4754 knowledge, and an active DoD clearance. The role enables growth within a leading aerospace safety organization and involves system safety work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 14+ years of engineering experience, or 12+ years with a Master’s, or 4+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 or ARP4754 safety program.
• Experience interfacing to a military customer or safety counterpart.
• Must have an active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Knowledge of aerospace safety standards and systems safety lifecycle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, classify, adjudicate, and manage hazards in a closed-loop tracking system.
• Coordinate across IPTs to support hazard and safety requirement adjudication.
• Communicate safety risk to appropriate levels and document derivations.
• Prepare SRR, PDR, and CDR packages documenting hazards and safety requirements.
• Flow down derived safety requirements to IPTs and deliver CDRL items.
• Develop design cognizance of the aircraft and document Subsystem Hazards and CSIs.
• Mentor safety engineers at varying experience levels.
