Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Staff Safety Systems Engineer to support the B-2 program in Palmdale, CA. You will develop and deliver System Safety products per MIL-STD-882, coordinate hazards with IPTs, and present safety analyses at SRR/PDR/CDR gates.

The role requires strong hazard analysis capabilities, DoD familiarity, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. Occasional travel and active clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 14+ years' engineering experience (or 12+ with MS, or 4+ with PhD).
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 or ARP4754 safety programs.
• Experience interfacing with a DoD customer or safety counterpart.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (within 6 years) or able to obtain.
• Ability to obtain SAP clearance in time as required.

Responsibilities

• Identify, classify, adjudicate hazards in a closed-loop tracking system.
• Cross-IPT coordination to support hazard and safety requirement adjudication.
• Communicate safety risk to appropriate levels.
• Prepare SRR, PDR, and CDR packages documenting hazards and safety requirements.
• Flow down safety requirements to IPTs.
• Acquire design cognizance of aircraft and components.
• Mentor safety engineers across experience levels.
