Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Safety Systems Engineer to support the B-2 program, with assignments in Palmdale, CA or Oklahoma City, OK. The role focuses on developing and delivering System Safety products using MIL-STD-882 guidance.

The ideal candidate brings extensive engineering experience in safety programs, ability to work with DoD customers, and a track record of integrating safety across IPTs. Secret/Top Secret clearance preferred or required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited university with extensive engineering safety experience.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 or ARP4754 safety programs.
• Active DoD Secret or higher clearance or eligibility; able to obtain/maintain clearance.
• Experience interfacing with military customers or safety counterparts.
• Knowledge of system safety analysis methods and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Identify, classify, adjudicate hazards in a closed-loop tracking system.
• Coordinate across IPTs to support hazard and safety requirement adjudication.
• Communicate safety risk to the appropriate levels.
• Prepare SRR, PDR, and CDR packages documenting hazards and safety requirements.
• Flow down derived safety requirements to the appropriate IPTs.
• Deliver CDRLs and acquire design cognizance of the aircraft.
• Identify, classify, and document Subsystem Hazards and CSIs.
• Mentor various experience levels of safety engineers.
