Huntress is a remote-first cybersecurity company seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical vision and architectural evolution of our Core Platform. You will partner with the Engineering Manager to elevate engineering excellence across the team.

In this senior role you will design, mentor, and deliver the most complex features, manage cross‑team dependencies, promote ADRs, and ensure scalable, secure systems on AWS and Linux while growing the organization’s technical capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing complex software products.
• 5+ years of programming in Ruby on Rails, ideally with large monoliths.
• Strong architectural experience and ADR leadership.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments and Linux-based infra.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to decompose ambiguous requirements into action items.
• Exceptional communication across teams and leadership.
• Experience partnering with Engineering Managers or Product Leaders.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and adoption in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and mentor engineers on complex features.
• Partner with Engineering Manager to steer technical direction and set engineering standards.
• Own cross-team dependencies to remove roadblocks and ensure delivery.
• Drive ADRs for major technical changes impacting the codebase.
• Oversee lifecycle, evolution, configuration, and risk management of systems.
• Mentor engineers and promote collaboration and engagement.
