Job summary

Pivotal Health is seeking an experienced platform engineer to own and evolve the product platform layer, including identity, tenancy, and developer tooling. You will write production code, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers in a high-autonomy environment across multiple product teams.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, scalable design, and a strong bias for shipping robust platform capabilities that enable faster product delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with backend depth across full-stack domains.
• Own architectural decisions on complex production systems used by multiple teams.
• Proficient in Python and backend-focused problem solving.
• Strong cloud-native experience; GCP preferred.
• Relational data modeling and schema evolution in scalable systems.
• Strong product instincts and customer-focused problem solving.
• Able to discover customer problems and translate learnings into plans.
• Self-directed, proactive, and communicative; collaborates well.
• Comfortable in greenfield environments with evolving requirements.
• Lead by doing and influence without formal title.
• Low-ego and collaborative approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the platform across identity, tenancy, shared services, developer experience, and new areas.
• Stay hands-on: write production code, lead design reviews, end-to-end ownership.
• Design for extension and reuse with well-defined interfaces.
• Design scalable, reliable system interactions balancing scalability, security, and performance.
• Translate ambiguity into executable plans with product and engineering leadership.
• Raise the engineering bar through patterns, code reviews, and collaboration.
