Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to accelerate the Privileged Access Management program. You will design and deliver cloud-based infrastructure on a modern stack, scale multi-tenant services, and lead code reviews.

The role offers engineering ownership, equity, and fast-paced delivery with weekly releases, in a flexible, collaborative environment. Minimum 7+ years in backend development (Go/Java/C++), strong PostgreSQL experience, and hands-on AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent; master's preferred.
• 7+ years of extensive programming experience in Go, Java, or C++, backend services; Go preferred.
• 4+ years experience with PostgreSQL or equivalent relational DB with design/query optimization.
• Strong understanding of architectures for large cloud deployments and distributed systems.
• Experience with IaC, Observability, Secrets Management, CI/CD, secure coding, and compliance.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs and experience building/integrating them.
• Experience with AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kinesis, Kafka, Docker.
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI pair-programmers and LLMs to accelerate PAM product development.
• Contribute to Okta’s FedRAMP initiative.
• Design, develop and deliver cloud-based infrastructure on a modern stack (Kubernetes/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Drive evaluation, development and rollout of microservices.
• Operate, support, and scale shared services and frameworks as demand grows.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
