Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff level DevOps Engineer to join a fast, collaborative, and highly skilled team. The role focuses on building secure, enterprise-grade PAM products with modern tech including Kubernetes/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, Redis and OpenSearch.

You will own microservices, drive automation, and mentor junior engineers. Applicants should have 7+ years in backend development (Go/Java/C++), strong PostgreSQL experience, and a deep understanding of cloud architectures, CI/CD, IaC, and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is required
• 7+ years of backend programming experience in Go, Java, or C++, with Go preferred
• 4+ years with PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases; database design and queries a plus
• Strong understanding of cloud deployments, IaC, observability, secrets management, CI/CD, secure coding, and compliance
• Deep knowledge of REST APIs and building/integrating them
• Experience with AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kinesis, Kafka, and Docker
• Familiarity with Agile software development processes

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI pair-programmers and LLMs to accelerate PAM product development
• Contribute to Okta's FedRAMP initiative
• Design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure on Kubernetes/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and other AWS services
• Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of microservices
• Operate, support, and scale shared services and frameworks
• Lead design and code reviews to ensure scalability, redundancy, and multi-tenancy
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize services and performance
• Provide mentorship to junior developers
• Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security and operations engineers
