The Senior Staff Attorney and Staff Attorney roles are in-house positions managing a caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases, appearing before the California Workers' Compensation Boards in Orange County, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Pomona, and Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive legal research, and develop well-reasoned legal strategies.
  • Independently create and present defense strategies.
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs supporting defense strategies with autonomy.
  • Partner with Claims Partners to achieve optimal results for our insureds.
  • Provide effective and timely legal advice and communication to clients.
  • Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Manage cases efficiently and effectively, including preparing witnesses and evidence for trials and hearings.
  • Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide in-house training to junior staff.
  • Participate in claims reviews and ongoing legal education to maintain expertise.
Qualifications

Staff Attorney:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in California.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; LexisNexis experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.

Senior Staff Attorney:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed in California.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; LexisNexis experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Additional Information

This position is remote, but the selected candidate will travel 1-4 days per week within Orange County, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Pomona, and Long Beach, California, depending on court openings.

We offer flexible work arrangements and a business casual environment.

Compensation

The annual base pay range is $114,800 - $192,000, based on market analysis and experience. Compensation may include bonuses and incentives. Actual pay will depend on performance, skills, and experience.
