Staff or Senior Staff Attorney, Workers' Compensation

Position Overview

Join our team as a Staff or Senior Staff Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation. This is a fully remote, in-house position handling a designated caseload before the California Workers' Compensation Boards in various locations including Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Oxnard.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct legal research.
• Develop and present defense strategies independently.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial briefs.
• Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal results.
• Communicate effectively with courts, witnesses, and counsel.
• Manage case dispositions efficiently.
• Prepare and present evidence at hearings and trials.
• Draft and argue appellate briefs.
• Participate in team meetings and provide training to junior staff.
• Engage in ongoing legal education.

Qualifications

Note: Positions available for both Staff and Senior Staff Attorney levels, depending on experience.

For Staff Attorney

• At least 2 years of legal experience in Workers' Compensation.
• JD from an accredited law school and licensed in California.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; LexisNexis experience is a plus.

For Senior Staff Attorney

• At least 5 years of legal experience in complex Workers' Compensation cases.
• JD from an accredited law school and licensed in California.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; LexisNexis experience is a plus.

Additional Information

This role involves travel within specified California locations, with flexible work arrangements and a business casual environment. A high-speed internet connection is required for remote work.

Compensation

The annual base salary ranges from $114,800 to $192,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes other rewards such as bonuses and incentives.
