The Staff/Sr. Staff Attorney is a fully remote, in-house position handling Workers’ Compensation cases before the California Workers' Compensation Boards in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Oxnard.

This role offers a collaborative learning environment with remote work and onsite appearances (approximately 4 times annually). We focus on personal growth and provide ongoing CLE opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex issues and conduct extensive legal research.
  • Develop and present defense strategies independently.
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery documents, depositions, petitions, and trial briefs.
  • Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal results.
  • Provide timely legal advice and communicate effectively with clients, courts, witnesses, and counsel.
  • Manage cases efficiently from start to finish.
  • Present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
  • Draft and argue appellate briefs.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide training to junior staff.
  • Contribute to claims reviews and ongoing legal education.

Qualifications

Note: This role can be filled as a Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney based on experience.

For Associate Attorney:
  • JD from an accredited law school, licensed in California.
  • Legal internship or clerkship preferred.
  • Familiarity with the tripartite relationship is a plus.
  • Strong customer service commitment.
  • Team-oriented, excellent research and writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong negotiation and strategic thinking skills.
For Staff Attorney:
  • At least 2 years’ experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • JD from an accredited law school, licensed in California.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with LexisNexis is a plus.
  • Self-directed with good tech skills.

Additional Information

This position is remote but requires travel 1-4 days weekly within designated California locations. A reliable high-speed internet connection is necessary.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $81,840-$172,200, depending on experience and role level. Compensation includes base salary, bonuses, and other incentives.
