Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking a Staff ML Engineer to set the technical direction for multiple embeddings-focused pillars within the AFR team. You will lead cross-functional ML projects from hypothesis to deployment, balancing mentorship with hands-on work in data analysis, modeling and automation.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with product and data science, and building scalable ML systems to improve ad targeting and content understanding across a global platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and deploying production ML models.
• Staff-level leadership: mentor engineers and drive cross-functional projects.
• Excellent communication to translate complex technical concepts.
• Experience with content-rich NLP/CV problems at scale using embeddings.
• Familiarity with Ads domain or Search/Recommender systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ML engineers.
• Develop technical strategy for content embeddings & relevance for Ads.
• Develop or iterate embedding models for advertising use cases.
• Collaborate with local and 3rd-party LLMs/VLMs to build state-of-the-art embeddings.
• Build data processing and inference pipelines for the models we develop.
• End-to-end evaluation of features with benchmarks and online experiments.
• Ensure reliability, scalability and performance of ML systems with tests and monitoring.
• Review modeling and coding work to maintain quality and standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
