Job summary

Reddit, Inc. hosts a Staff Machine Learning Engineer role across our ML ecosystem, spanning recommendations, search, messaging, and AI systems.

You will lead multi-domain initiatives, translate product goals into scalable ML solutions, and mentor engineers to raise the bar for technical excellence. You will collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to drive impact on engagement, discovery, and monetization while staying at the cutting edge of AI research and responsible development

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building, deploying, and operating machine learning systems in production.
• Deep understanding of machine learning methods spanning classical approaches and modern deep learning (Transformers, GNN, etc).
• Expert at developing and productionizing models using TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Experience building production-quality code with testing, evaluation, and monitoring in Python and Go.
• Experience designing and scaling ML systems, including data pipelines, features, training/serving, and monitoring.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills translating product needs into scalable ML solutions.
• Track record of driving measurable impact through applied ML in real-world products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ML initiatives from ideation through production and iteration, shaping technical direction.
• Architect, build and deploy large-scale ML systems across recommendations, search, and content understanding.
• Drive measurable impact on user engagement, discovery, and long-term value.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product and technical roadmaps.
• Stay at the forefront of AI research and implement new paradigms in Reddit's ML ecosystem.
• Contribute to best practices, guidelines, and ethical AI principles for responsible LLM development.
• Mentor senior and mid-level ML engineers to foster excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Set technical vision and present findings to leadership for long-term ML planning.
