Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer in Roy, UT to lead a team of mechanical engineers within the Sentinel Program. The role collaborates across engineering, test, supply chain and IPTs to develop designs, hardware specs and analyses.

Strong leadership and cross-functional communication are essential. The position requires a US Secret clearance, CAD/PLM experience, and prior leadership on technical projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12+ years, Master’s with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years.
• Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance at time of application.
• Ability to obtain SAP approval within company timelines.
• Experience with CAD modeling and PLM tools.
• GD&T knowledge and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Minimum 5 years leading technical rigor on a project.
• Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive on-time delivery of design work products.
• Support risk and opportunity management plan.
• Maintain Sentinel baseline and related processes for Launcher Closure System.
• Balance quality with procurement and test asset development pace.
• Build relationships with customers, subcontractors, and partners.
• Oversee fabrication of custom components to fit interfaces.
• Support testing of large subsystems; analyze data to characterize performance.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices.
• Make sound decisions in challenging situations.
