Job summary

Bitdeer is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to re-architect the Model-as-a-Service system into a global, multi-tenant token service serving millions of users.

You will own end-to-end backend implementation, migrations, and SLOs, working with the principal architect to set Go and API standards while ensuring reliability, observability, and scalable performance in a distributed Kubernetes environment.

Experience with OpenTelemetry, streaming, and multi-region deployments is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bring 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years owning a high-traffic, multi-tenant API platform for paying customers.
• Demonstrate expertise in scaling distributed systems through multi-region active-active deployments and zero-downtime migrations.
• Deep hands-on proficiency with Go-based services, production Kubernetes, and datastores like PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka.
• Apply systems-level understanding of LLM serving to manage streaming, KV/prefix caching, TTFT and throughput.
• Enforce multi-tenant security with fail-closed authorization, on-call responsibilities, and blameless incident reviews.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, Strategy, and Leadership: Co-own the end-to-end MaaS system design and drive the platform maturity roadmap.
• Inference Gateway and API Surface: Own the wire compatibility contract for major formats and versioning.
• Performance Optimization: Maximize token throughput and latency reductions, integrate deployment tooling and autoscaling.
• Global Topology and Reliability: Scale to globally distributed architecture with SLOs and failovers.
• Security, Identity, and Multi-Tenant Isolation: Enforce strict security and data isolation across layers.
• Token Metering and Billing: Build exactly-once metering and high-volume usage ledger for billing.
