Job summary

Meeru AI Inc. is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own the application and API services layer for a multi-tenant, audit-ready platform. You will design service contracts, enforce tenancy guarantees, and ensure the platform’s results are auditable and trustworthy for Fortune 500 finance teams.

You will collaborate with data, AI, and product teams to define cross-layer service design, patterns, and maintainability. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role with exposure to multi-cloud deployment.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years in backend forward deployment engineering with staff-level ownership.
• Ownership in a multi-cloud SaaS environment with strong isolation.
• Excellent API design with versioning and backward compatibility.
• Security engineering: authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation.
• Proficient in Python and at least one of FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis; REST API design; Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• SQL experience with Snowflake or PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-tenant APIs through which platform results are consumed.
• Build review, approval, and exception-handling workflows for finance teams.
• Maintain multi-tenant isolation at the service layer; manage auth and RBAC.
• Build the audit trail linking user actions to results and sources.
• Enable multi-cloud, customer-hosted deployment with strong isolation.
• Own performance, reliability, and cost with observability and health signals.
• Set backend patterns, review designs, and mentor mid/senior engineers.
