Job summary

Credit Acceptance seeks a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to lead compute, virtualization, and storage with a strong automation focus. This hands-on role emphasizes IaC, AI-assisted workflows, and cost-effective platform design.

You will collaborate with engineering, cloud, security, and application teams to deliver scalable data center and cloud solutions while mentoring peers and supporting on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in infrastructure engineering with hands-on compute, virtualization, and storage ownership.
• Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting enterprise-scale compute and virtualization environments.
• Experience migrating on-premises data centers to AWS.
• Strong storage experience: block, file, object, and remote workforce file services.
• Hands-on with storage/data protection: Pure Storage, Cohesity, Qumulo.
• Advanced IaC/automation with Terraform/Ansible/PowerShell/Python; reusable modules.
• Networking fundamentals to design and troubleshoot infra across compute/storage/network boundaries.
• Experience in hybrid/virtualized environments and on-call rotations.
• Preferred: hybrid data center/cloud, AI-assisted ops, observability, DR.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across compute, storage, networking, Linux, Windows and K8S platforms.
• Design and implement enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions that are maintainable and cost-effective.
• Define and drive Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python.
• Lead evaluation and adoption of AI-enabled tooling and agent-based workflows for infra ops.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, and Application teams to design end-to-end solutions.
• Perform impact analysis for complex changes and manage risk across systems.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Influence roadmaps and long-term strategy with engineering leadership.
• Participate in incident response, disaster recovery planning, and on-call rotations.
• Share design decisions and reference architectures for assigned domains.
