Job summary

Commerce is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate infrastructure across on-prem data centers and cloud environments. The role targets hands-on engineers who evolved into automation and IaC leadership to scale global operations.

You will mentor engineers, set technical directions, and own systems that enable reliable global performance. A strong background in Linux, networking, and cloud platforms is essential to drive our infrastructure strategy.

Qualifications

10+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering with production ownership.
Experience with remote management of physical hardware colocated at hosting facilities.
Deep Linux systems administration experience (Red Hat, Debian).
Hands-on networking experience with Cisco hardware, DNS, load balancing, traffic management.
Experience with enterprise storage and backup systems.
Proven track record automating infrastructure with Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
Proficiency in Python for infrastructure tooling and automation.
Production experience with GCP (Compute Engine, networking, storage, IAM).
Demonstrated ability to lead infrastructure projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Design and operate large-scale, multi data center infrastructure for international operations (on-prem, GCP, AWS).
Lead automation of infrastructure deployment and configuration management (IaC).
Design and maintain traffic management, load balancing, and DNS systems at scale.
Build and operate monitoring and observability systems across on-prem and cloud.
Develop tooling for distributed, auditable systems administration.
Write and maintain documentation for the infrastructure organization.
