Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to lead hardware bring-up and interface development for in-vehicle display systems. You will work across software, validation, and supplier teams to define robust hardware requirements, investigate issues, and ensure high-quality launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in automotive hardware engineering, with display/ECU development.
• Strong understanding of hardware interfaces, signal paths, power, and integration for embedded automotive systems.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, validation, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience creating and maintaining interface/technical definition documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware definition and technical execution for display-related diagnostic and interface work.
• Own and refine FIDM and other interface documentation for system integration and issue resolution.
• Drive Display Diagnostic 2.0 hardware definition, implementation alignment, and problem solving.
• Investigate hardware and system issues identified through PRTS and conduct cross-functional root-cause analysis.
• Support display ECU and subsystem bring-up, debugging, and validation.
• Translate system-level needs into clear hardware requirements and interface definitions.
• Collaborate with software, systems, validation, packaging, and suppliers to resolve integration issues.
• Review schematics and interface definitions for robustness and completeness.
• Identify gaps early and drive corrective actions across teams.
• Support sourcing, development, and launch activities with hardware leadership.
