Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to lead hardware bring-up, interface integration, and diagnostic work for display-focused systems. You will collaborate across software, validation, packaging, and suppliers to define robust hardware requirements and resolve integration issues.

The role emphasizes diagnostic architecture, FIDM documentation, and cross-functional problem solving to improve quality and launch readiness. Travel <25% and relocation benefits available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Significant automotive hardware engineering experience, with direct display/ECU development exposure.
• Strong understanding of hardware interfaces, signal paths, power, and embedded automotive system integration.
• Experience creating and maintaining interface and technical definition documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware definition and technical execution for display-related diagnostic and interface work.
• Own and refine FIDM and other interface documentation for system integration and issue resolution.
• Drive Display Diagnostic 2.0 hardware definition, implementation alignment, and problem solving.
• Investigate hardware and system issues identified through PRTS and perform cross-functional root-cause analysis.
• Support display ECU and subsystem bring-up, debugging, and validation.
• Translate system needs into hardware requirements, interface definitions, and actions.
