Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to lead hardware bring-up and diagnostic interface work for its in-vehicle display platform. You will define requirements, review schematics, and collaborate with software, validation, packaging, and supplier teams to ensure robust, launch-ready hardware.

The role emphasizes FIDM/interface documentation, cross-functional problem solving, and sustaining diagnostic readiness across programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Significant automotive hardware engineering experience with display/ECU development.
  • Strong hardware interfaces, signal paths, power and embedded system integration knowledge.
  • Experience with bring-up, debugging, validation and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience creating and maintaining interface and technical definition documents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware definition and technical execution for display-related diagnostic and interface work.
  • Own and refine FIDM and other interface documentation for system integration and issue resolution.
  • Drive Display Diagnostic 2.0 hardware definition and problem solving.
  • Investigate hardware and system issues identified through PRTS and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Support display ECU and subsystem bring-up, debugging, and validation.
  • Translate system needs into hardware requirements and interface definitions.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, validation, packaging, and suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Review schematics and interface definitions for robustness and completeness.
  • Identify gaps early and drive corrective actions.
  • Support sourcing, development, and launches with technical leadership in display hardware.
  • Help improve engineering processes for issue tracking and diagnostic readiness.
