Gusto, Inc. is seeking a seasoned full-stack software engineer to lead AI-powered Growth experiences from onboarding to lifecycle engagement. You’ll own technical direction for an AI Voice Agent and scale ACE-driven email experiences across the funnel. Join a team shaping measurable customer impact through production-grade AI systems.

You’ll mentor engineers, partner with Product/Data/Design, and drive long-term architectural decisions for conversational workflows and customer journeys.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience at scale.
• Experience building full-stack frontend and backend systems.
• Growth-related product experience (onboarding, lifecycle marketing, or CRM).
• Strong applied AI fluency including prompt design and content generation.
• Ability to own multi-quarter initiatives and deliver measurable impact.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AI-powered Growth experiences across onboarding and lifecycle engagement.
• Own the technical strategy for an AI Voice Agent to onboard customers.
• Build and scale AI-driven email systems across the funnel using ACE.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, Design, Marketing, and Platform teams to ship improvements.
• Design reliable APIs, backend services, and frontend experiences for Growth journeys.
• Establish engineering patterns for applied AI development and safe rollout.
