Job summary

Gusto is seeking a seasoned full‑stack software engineer for its Growth team to own AI‑powered onboarding and lifecycle experiences. You will shape concepts, drive technical direction, and own production workflows from idea to measurable customer impact.

The role focuses on a conversational AI Voice Agent and scalable AI‑driven email experiences across the funnel. You’ll partner with Product, Data, Design, Marketing, and Platform teams to improve acquisition, activation, and conversion metrics,

Qualifications

8+ years of software development experience shipping customer-facing product experiences at scale.
Experience building full-stack systems with frontend, backend, and production services.
Strong applied AI fluency including prompt design and content generation systems.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate AI-powered Growth experiences across onboarding and lifecycle engagement.
Own the technical strategy and implementation for an AI Voice Agent for onboarding.
Build and scale AI-driven email systems across the funnel with generation workflows and experimentation.
Collaborate with Product, Data, Design, Marketing, and Platform teams to drive growth metrics.
Design reliable APIs, backend services, and frontend experiences for personalized onboarding and communications.
Establish engineering patterns for applied AI, including prompt design, tooling, evaluation, and safe rollout.
Help make long-term architectural decisions around conversational systems and outbound workflows.
Mentor engineers and raise the bar on technical execution and responsible AI use.
