Job summary

Veza is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Graph Data Platform team. You will design, improve, and maintain the Veza Access Graph, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure identity and access management experiences. This role emphasizes technical leadership and architecture across a scalable environment.

You will mentor teams, refine requirements with stakeholders, and drive autonomous, high-quality delivery in a fast-paced security-focused domain.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional backend software development experience focusing on scalable distributed systems and identity/security.
• Distributed systems fundamentals including consistency, partitioning, replication, and failure modes at scale.
• Graph database internals: traversal, query planning/optimization, indexing.
• Go at systems-programming level: concurrency, memory, performance tuning.
• Large-scale data modeling for graphs with high cardinality/fan-out.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs in microservices.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with caching in distributed systems.
• Track record of making technical decisions with wide impact across teams.
• Experience setting standards adopted by multiple teams.
• AI-assisted engineering usage for acceleration with verification.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the Veza Access Graph roadmap and architecture.
• Resolve complex problems from architecture to implementation with no precedent.
• Set coding standards and engineering best practices for the team.
• Drive large-scale simplification and reduce system redundancy.
• Contribute significant technical output and lead design reviews.
• Ensure code quality, testing, and documentation standards.
