United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Systems Development Engineer (GovOps) to join our Cleared Engineering team in McLean, VA. You will advance platform reliability across GovCloud, FedRAMP High, and air-gapped environments, bridging the gap between uncleared core teams and secure facilities.

In this staff role, you will architect long-term system stability, drive tooling, and lead incident response under high pressure while ensuring compliance with federal security benchmarks.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or related ops roles.
• Deep Linux/Unix internals, networking, and distributed systems expertise.
• Hands-on Python, Bash, Go, or Java with scripting and debugging skills.
• Experience with public or federal cloud boundaries (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, GCP).
• Knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• 3+ years of technical writing—status reports, incident summaries, escalations.
• Ability to work on-site at McLean, VA SCIF, including on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Architect high-side platform reliability across Compute, Networking, Storage, and OS domains.
• Bridge uncleared core teams with secure facilities to ensure precise communication.
• Drive fleet-wide tooling and automation to improve incident response and ops efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product and Core Engineering to root-cause defects and influence roadmaps.
• Lead critical incident response with structured triage and senior stakeholder communications.
• Maintain and evolve compliance guardrails inside secure facilities (FedRAMP High, ITAR/IL5).
