Job summary

Databricks seeks a Staff Systems Development Engineer (GovOps) to join its Cleared Engineering team in McLean, VA. You will bridge uncleared core teams with secure facilities, architect long-term stability, and drive cross-domain reliability across GovCloud and air-gapped environments.

You will craft tooling in Python, Bash, Go, or Java to improve platform resilience, supportability, and incident response while aligning with FedRAMP High and ITAR/IL5 requirements.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or related ops role.
• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, networking, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, Go, or Java and scripting for diagnostics.
• Experience with public/federal cloud boundaries (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, GCP).
• IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation; container orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes.
• 3+ years of technical writing/communication; ability to work on-site in McLean, VA SCIF.

Responsibilities

• Architect high-side platform reliability across multiple domains.
• Act as lead interface between uncleared core teams and secure facilities.
• Develop and deploy tooling to improve fleet-wide supportability.
• Collaborate with Product and Core Engineering to address defects and roadmaps.
• Anchor incident response and provide clear communications to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with FedRAMP High, ITAR/IL5, and related security standards.
