Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Acquisition & Onboarding team within the Consumer org.

This is a high-impact leadership role for an engineer who can set technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and elevate the quality and velocity of full stack development across mobile, web, and backend systems.The team plays a critical role in shaping the first experience customers have with affirm—building trust, clarity, and value from the very first interaction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Web apps using React, React Native or Vue.
• Experience delivering major features with clear technical plans.
• Comfort with ambiguity and large-system architectures.
• Proven ability to gather and iterate feedback from peers and cross-functional partners.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a yearly timescale and align with business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to ensure sustainability, risk awareness, and trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating technical solutions and processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, on-call readiness, runbooks, and incident response.
