Job summary

Amplitude is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the UI Foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role focuses on owning frontend architectural foundations, driving performance, and leading AI‑agent‑driven engineering workflows that accelerate velocity across teams.

You will mentor engineers, set standards, and partner with design systems, product, and infra to ship scalable frontend platforms in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Real world software engineering experience at staff level or equivalent scope.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture (React or equivalent) with strong infra/systems instincts.
• Proven track record improving frontend performance at scale.
• Experience designing internal developer tooling or platform infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AI-agent-driven engineering workflows.
• Ability to drive consensus on architectural decisions without heavy-handed authority.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve frontend architectural foundations of the platform.
• Diagnose and fix performance issues; establish budgets and guardrails.
• Build and maintain build systems, local dev environments, CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop AI-agent-driven automation to remove bottlenecks in engineering workflows.
• Set technical direction and mentor senior engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design systems, and infra teams to address real pain points.
