Job summary

Amplitude is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the UI Foundation to lead frontend architectural decisions, improve performance, and build an autonomous AI-driven engineering workflow platform. You will set technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and partner across product, design systems, and infra to deliver scalable frontend solutions.

You will own foundational frontend infrastructure, drive velocity, and contribute to a platform that powers Amplitude’s AI-first analytics.

Qualifications

• Real world software engineering at staff level or equivalent.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture (React) and infrastructure instincts.
• Proven experience improving frontend performance at scale.
• Experience shipping internal developer tooling or platform infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AI-agent-driven engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve frontend platform architecture (micro-frontends, design-system infra, state mgmt).
• Diagnose and fix performance issues; set performance budgets and guardrails.
• Build/maintain build systems, local dev environments, CI/CD, linting, codegen, internal tooling.
• Identify bottlenecks and automate with AI-agent driven workflows to improve velocity.
• Set technical direction for frontend org; mentor staff-level engineers; review architecture proposals.
• Partner with product engineering, design systems, and infra teams to solve real pain points.
