Job summary

Walmart Data Ventures seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. You will drive the full software lifecycle, apply cloud-native architectures, and mentor teams to translate business needs into actionable solutions.

The role emphasizes innovation, engineering excellence, and ongoing improvement to boost platform performance across Walmart's technology stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related area (option 1) or 6 years' experience in software engineering (option 2).
• 4+ years' experience in software engineering or related area if Bachelor’s degree (Option 1).
• Master's degree in CS/CE/ISE/Software Engineering with 2 years' experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities: coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles for scalable, resilient systems.
• Conduct system design reviews for quality and architecture.
• Develop AI-driven applications and integrate ML components.
• Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate problems into technical requirements.
• Drive data-driven continuous improvement and innovation.
