Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to architect, design, and verify embedded hardware for flight-critical systems, including batteries, GNC, and propulsion control. Lead development of CCAs and FPGA-based hardware interface with sensors; ensure reliability, environmental compliance, and rigorous verification; requires strong mixed-signal, FPGA, and high-reliability experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years hardware/ASIC/FPGA experience.
• Flight avionics experience for aircraft or space applications.
• Strong knowledge of analog/digital filtering and mixed-signal design.
• Familiar with EMI/EMC, MIL-461/DO-160/FCC.
• Experience with FPGA timing closure and place-and-route.
• Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Python, TCL or similar for FPGA sim/testing.
• Experience with Xilinx or Microsemi FPGAs.
• Reading schematics and hardware test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop mixed-signal designs from requirements to production.
• Support avionics architecture trade studies and tests.
• Perform de-rating analysis and reliability studies.
• Define hardware-software interfaces for control and tests.
• Architect and generate ASIC/FPGA RTL code.
• Create test cases and verify ASIC/FPGA code.
• Complete FPGA synthesis and timing analysis.
• Prepare materials for peer and design reviews.
• Support rocket engine testing and ground support.
