Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking an Avionics Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on FPGA design, verification, firmware/software development, and avionics test engineering for advanced aerospace systems.

You will direct technical execution, resource planning, staffing, and cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to deliver reliable avionics solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years in FPGA-based digital systems, embedded software, avionics or automated test systems.
• 3+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proven experience from concept to production.
• Strong FPGA development, digital design and verification knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead an integrated engineering organization for FPGA design, verification, firmware/software development, and avionics test engineering.
• Oversee development, integration, verification, qualification and transition to production of avionics hardware and software.
• Ensure robust engineering processes, design reviews, verification plans and quality standards.
• Provide technical leadership for FPGA architecture and automated test development.
• Manage staffing, workload, hiring, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination.
