Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff (L4) Fluid and Mechanical Systems Engineer to own multidisciplinary fluid- and mechanical-system design for Group 5 UAVs. You will develop ram-air and liquid cooling circuits, ECS/TMS layouts, and supporting mechanical installations that are robust, maintainable, and ready for vehicle integration.

You will size pumps and heat exchangers, model thermal performance, and work with CAD/PLM tools to deliver production-ready hardware under tight schedules while ensuring

Qualifications

• Develop fluid system layouts for ram-air, liquid cooling, ECS/TMS circuits and hydraulic distribution.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow-balance, pump and reservoir sizing; assess thermal transport capacity.
• Build and maintain fluid and thermal models using Flowmaster, AMESim, GFSSP or equivalent tools.
• Design supporting mechanical hardware, brackets, mounts, and installation provisions; perform tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Create fluid-system layouts that meet routing, packaging, and maintainability constraints.
• Size components and perform basic FEA as needed for hardware suitability.
• Support vehicle integration interfaces with structures, EWIS, and thermal management systems.
• Define and execute qualification tests per MIL-STD-810; support airworthiness verification.
