Shield AI in Dallas, Texas is seeking a Staff Fluid & Thermal Systems Engineer to lead the design and optimization of fluid and thermal systems for our autonomous UAVs and ground platforms.

You will drive first-principles analysis, run advanced simulations, oversee testing and validation, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, mission-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Fluid or Thermal System design.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and system-level thermal management.
• Experience with system models in MATLAB Simscape, Amesim, etc.
• Experience in sensor integration, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Leadership and ownership of projects with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of fluid and thermal systems for aircraft and ground platforms.
• Develop and implement innovative thermal solutions.
• Use first-principles engineering to drive design decisions.
• Research technologies for integration into complex solutions.
• Conduct advanced simulations to predict system performance and refine designs.
• Execute testing and validation with data acquisition and verification.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate designs into larger architectures.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage supplier relationships.
