Shield AI seeks a Staff (L4) Aircraft Thermal Systems Engineer to take full ownership of thermal analysis, design, and vehicle integration for a Group 5 UAV fighter aircraft. You will develop cooling strategies, correlate models with test data, and drive thermal hardware Delivery in a rapid-iteration environment.

The role requires strong problem-solving, ownership, and fast decision-making. The ideal candidate has 7–12 years of aerospace thermal experience, a degree in mechanical or aerospace

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of direct experience in aerospace thermal engineering or related fields.
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Active Secret or higher clearance.
• Deep mastery of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Own aircraft-level thermal environments and cooling for vehicle bays and hot surfaces.
• Perform first-principles heat transfer and fluid calculations; develop analytical/CFD models.
• Design active and passive cooling solutions and manage thermal loads.
• Develop thermal requirements, assess risks, and provide design recommendations.
• Create thermal hardware layouts and CAD models; resolve interfaces with related systems.
• Define qualification tests per MIL-STD-810 and support certification processes.
