Job summary

Standard Bots is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to lead the firmware of Bolt’s mobile base. You will own architecture across all base controllers, drive motor control, power and battery systems, and sensor I/O, coordinating with hardware and software teams to bring prototypes to a fielded fleet.

You will mentor engineers, set coding standards, and build robust test tooling to catch issues early. This role is on-site in the Boston area with opportunities to shape a rapidly evolving robotics

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded firmware development for battery-powered products with motors
• Fluent in C/C++ on microcontrollers and RTOS environments
• Experience bringing up firmware on robotic platforms and leading cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Define firmware architecture across controllers for the mobile base
• Lead firmware bring-up for prototypes with hardware teams on strict schedules
• Develop power sequencing, battery management, charging, and docking firmware
• Integrate sensors and I/O and define firmware interfaces with navigation and safety software
• Mentor AMR embedded engineers and raise quality through hardware-in-the-loop tests
• Set coding standards and release processes for firmware across the fleet
