Role Overview

Bloom Energy is a clean‑energy technology company dedicated to providing reliable, affordable power solutions. We are looking for a Staff Equipment Engineer to support and enhance our manufacturing operations in Newark, DE.

Responsibilities
  • Support equipment across various manufacturing lines, diagnosing and fixing issues in both mechanical and electronic components.
  • Provide support for automated equipment, including PLC and HMI programming for motion and servo control systems, and modify existing control logic to improve safety, performance, or throughput.
  • Participate in commissioning of new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed.
  • Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections.
  • Conduct engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment.
  • Oversee equipment installation, start‑up, and implementation projects.
  • Develop equipment specifications and documents for manufacturing assembly, testing, and material handling processes.
  • Manage project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation and drive improvements in safety, cost, efficiency, and quality.
  • Prepare or approve system as‑built drawings.
  • Work flexible hours, including off‑shifts and weekends, as required.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing or equipment engineer.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting automated equipment and systems.
  • Functional knowledge of PLCs, low‑voltage controls, three‑phase power distribution, industrial control panels, electronic sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Experience in equipment requirement development and specification writing.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and public speaking.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 4 hours per shift.
  • Traverse stairs and navigate throughout the facility.
  • Occasional lift or carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection, computer editing, and review of digital/printed materials.
  • Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation
