Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff EO Signal Image Processing Engineer in Chandler, AZ to lead advanced EO/IR modeling, simulation, and algorithm development within the Seeker IPT. You will guide complex MAS efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure flight-test readiness.

The role demands extensive experience in image processing, C/C++, Python, and HPC environments, along with DoD clearance and strong leadership in agile settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field plus 12 years of related experience; or Master’s with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years.
• Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application.
• Proven image/signal processing algorithm development and physical optics simulation experience for EO/IR or seeker programs.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams delivering models and algorithms for EO/IR systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of high‑fidelity seeker simulations and physics‑based models (including closed-loop 6DOF).
• Mentor engineers and align activities with program milestones and high technical standards.
• Develop, implement, and integrate image/signal processing algorithms into simulations; optimize for performance and robustness.
• Lead HWIL, lab, and real‑time test activities; correlate simulations with test data and drive model updates.
• Represent M&S in technical reviews and deliver high-impact briefings.
