Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ seeks a Principal Seeker Modeling and Simulations Engineer 3 to join the Launch Vehicles team. You will design, implement, and verify image processing algorithms, high-fidelity simulations, and physics-based models for seeker development and testing.

You will collaborate across GNC and other engineering domains, advance EO/IR modeling techniques, and contribute to complex, fast-paced programs while upholding stringent DoD security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in STEM and 3 years of experience.
• Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Experience with image and signal processing techniques.
• Expertise in physical optical systems simulations and scene generation.
• Experience with object-oriented software design and programming in C/C++ and MATLAB or Python.
• Knowledge of Electro-Optics (EO) and EO/IR imaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity simulations and models for seeker design, performance assessment, and flight test support.
• Design and implement modeling solutions, conduct trade studies and evaluate system performance.
• Apply EO phenomenology and physics concepts in software implementations to mirror real hardware systems.
• Research and develop novel EO modeling techniques.
• Collaborate with GNC and other departments for simulation activities.
• Provide technical expertise for GPI simulation and modeling products internally and externally.
• Work in a team environment focused on modelling & simulation and supporting multiple programs.
