Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ, seeks a Principal EO Signal Image Processing Engineer to develop physics-based EO/IR models and high-fidelity simulations for seeker hardware.

You will design and implement image and signal processing algorithms in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB, integrate them into HPC workflows, and collaborate across GNC, software, and hardware teams to support HWIL and flight test activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field; 5+ years of related experience.
• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Experience with image and signal processing and implementation of algorithms in C or C++, MATLAB, or Python.
• Experience in EO/IR model development and validation based on hardware testing.
• Working knowledge in optical systems simulation, EO/IR imaging principles, and radiometric transfer.
• Experience developing and executing simulations in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

Responsibilities

• Apply EO/IR phenomenology to create physics-based models of seeker hardware for high-fidelity simulations.
• Design and implement image/signal processing algorithms and integrate into simulation framework; conduct trade studies.
• Execute modeling and algorithm development to meet accelerated program schedules.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize modeling tools in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for HPC and lab use.
• Collaborate with GNC, systems, software, firmware, and hardware teams to plan M&S activities and verification approaches.
• Support HWIL, lab, and real-time test activities; correlate simulations with test/flight data and update models.
• Present technical results to stakeholders and participate in design/readiness reviews.
