Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal EO Signal Image Processing Engineer to support the Launch Vehicles unit in Chandler, AZ. You will contribute to EO/IR modeling, algorithm development, and simulation tools, collaborating across disciplines to deliver high‑fidelity seeker simulations for performance assessment.

The role requires a strong background in image processing, C/C++/Python, and experience with HPC environments, plus a U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical/Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field with required experience.
• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Experience with image and signal processing techniques and implementation of algorithms in C/C++, MATLAB, or Python.
• Experience in EO/IR model development and validation based on hardware testing.
• Experience developing simulations in HPC environments.
• Familiarity with optical systems simulation and radiometric transfer.
• Ability to work independently and present technical findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Apply EO/IR phenomenology to create physics-based models of seeker hardware for high-fidelity simulations.
• Design and implement image/signal processing algorithms and integrate into the simulation framework; perform trade studies.
• Execute modeling and algorithm development to meet accelerated program schedules.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize modeling tools in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for HPC and lab use.
• Collaborate with GNC, systems, software, firmware, and hardware teams to plan M&S activities.
• Support HWIL, lab, and real-time test activities; correlate simulation with test data.
• Present technical results to internal stakeholders and participate in design/readiness reviews.
• Maintain process discipline and improve modeling standards and configuration management.
