Job summary
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own reliability across Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope. You’ll write production code, drive SRE practices, and mentor teams while on-call for high-SLA customers.
This remote role emphasizes cross-cloud operations and scalable reliability at scale. You’ll partner with product engineering to shape architecture, define SLOs, and improve observability across AWS, GCP, and Azure, with a strong emphasis on blameless post-mortems and open-source
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Distributed systems in production.
- Experience with multi-tenant cloud-native systems.
- On-call for production systems.
- Strong production software skills in an OO language.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes in AWS/GCP/Azure.
- Experience with IaC (Terraform/Helm/Jsonnet).
- Ability to design and implement SLOs.
Responsibilities
- Build reliability into the product by writing production-grade code.
- Develop automation and platform tooling to scale reliability.
- Lead technical design and review of features for operability.
- Own the SLO framework and reliability models per tenant.
- Improve observability and alerting to reduce customer-impacting incidents.
- Be on-call for high-SLA customers and lead incident responses.
- Mentor engineers and influence cross-team reliability practices.
