Job summary
Grafana Labs seeks a Staff Software Engineer - SRE to improve reliability of Grafana Cloud databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope) offered as SaaS across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You will own production reliability for high-SLA environments and work with embedded product squads to scale and automate operations.
The role emphasizes leadership, incident response, design reviews, and collaboration with product teams to ensure scalable, observable, and reliable services. Remote-first with global teams.
Qualifications
- 8+ years engineering experience, 4+ in SRE/production.
- Kubernetes expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proven technical leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Experience operating multi-tenant systems in production.
- Experience designing and implementing SLOs.
- Proficient in Go, Python, or Java.
- Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and scaling.
- Strong problem-solving and incident post-mortem skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead production reliability for high-SLA environments.
- Own SLOs and reduce budget burn for SLOs.
- Improve observability and automation to scale reliability.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders on design and strategy.
- Participate in incident responses and post-incident reviews.
