Alpaca is seeking a Staff Engineer to design, implement, and maintain systems that power our brokerage platform for millions of users. The role emphasizes cross-region collaboration, regulatory alignment, and leadership within a fully remote, globally distributed team.

You will bridge Japan-specific regulatory and vendor requirements with global engineering practices, architect scalable solutions, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring 24x7 reliability during Japan business hours.

Qualifikationen

• JLPT N1 level fluency in Japanese; read, write, and communicate professionally.
• Business-level English; collaborate in English-only meetings.
• Proven experience in designing and developing complex financial systems.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and ledger structures.
• Experience building scalable, high-availability multi-currency apps.
• Familiarity with financial regulations in Japan (FIEA, FSA, JSDA).
• Proficiency in statically typed languages (Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, or C++).
• Experience with financial APIs and trade settlements.
