Job summary

General Motors is seeking a technically opinionated Staff Engineer to join the Hybrid Services & Reliability (HSR) team as a founding member of GM's Hybrid Cloud reliability efforts. You will own the measurable reliability of the end-to-end bench cloud, from test benches through secure cloud networks into production runtimes, supporting critical systems for safety validation.

Qualifications

• Extensive SRE experience focused on hybrid cloud platforms.
• Linux systems administration and automation of DHCP/PXE.
• Configuration management tools (Chef/Ansible) and Infrastructure as Code.
• Ability to work independently on complex issues that require conceptual thinking and the wide application of principles and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Reliability Architecture: Define and implement SLOs/SLIs for hybrid cloud services and establish ready-state verification.
• Foundational Utilities: Automate core on-prem utilities (DHCP, PXE, NTP) for seamless server auto-provisioning.
• Observability & MTTR: Build dashboards and alerts to monitor slot availability and reduce MTTR.
• Environment Integrity: Ensure uninterrupted data paths and stable dependencies from test benches to runtimes.
• Technical Mentorship: Guide colleagues and improve internal processes and services.
